Project description
As a trial assignment for online education startup Pedago, I designed a lesson about loss aversion, a cognitive bias that can impact decision-making.

Approach
To develop a lesson on loss aversion, I applied the ADDIE framework for instructional design. First, I analyzed what the lesson was meant to deliver: I considered who the lesson was for, the learning goal, and what questions the lesson needed to answer. I used this information to shape learning objectives, map the LOs to preliminary assessment questions, and create a simple curriculum outline. From there, I researched the topic and built a citations list, wrote preliminary copy, and developed a deck to more clearly communicate the lesson outline to diverse stakeholders on the hiring team, including those without teaching or training-delivery experience.

Impact
  • Applied adult learning theory best practices to ensure optimal lesson design
  • Developed a cohesive lesson based on content that was new to me, without SME support
  • Adapted communication strategy to account for stakeholder needs
